The Nickerson High School boys wrestling team captured the Central Kansas League championship Thursday at Pratt High School.
Nickerson senior Kristopher Monroe placed first at 165 pounds.
Aaden Vedder (144) and Conner White (157) placed second. Aden Taylor (138), Aiden Brinkley (120), Kobane Swift (175), Riley Spurlock (190) and Conner Bower (215) placed third. Evan Trostle (132) placed seventh.
Nickerson placed first with 121 points, followed by Pratt 114, Smoky Valley 110. Hoisington 106.5, Haven 104.5, Hesston 61, Halstead 47.5, Hillsboro 28.5 and Larned 14.
Pratt and Haven each had three first-place finishers, Smoky Valley and Hoisington each had two first-place finishers. Hesston and Halstead also had one first-place finisher apiece.
Hoisington had four second-place finishers and Smoky Valley three.
Halstead’s Logan Overton placed first at 190 pounds, Riley Queen was second at 175 and Axel Hix was fourth at 215 Sixth place went to Gavin Allen (165), Jack Hoofer (157) and Robert Miller (144).
Haven’s first-place finishers were Dante De Virgilio (113),Tanner Lougrie (132) and Welden Stanley (150).
Haven’s John Williams placed second (138), Ayden Romero third (165), Tucker Rogers fourth (120), Aiden Herald fourth (157) and Sadler DeFrain sixth (190).
Larned’s Zev Cox placed third (150), Calvin Keith fourth (190) and Mikel Wilder eighth (175).
Placing first for Smoky Valley were Rette Krehbiel (138) and Wyatt Griffin (144). Placing second were Braxton Ricketts (106), Carson Schoshke (113) and Hayden Gehrke (190).
Placing third for the Vikings was Devin Zweifel (126). Fourth place went to Rhett Gaskill (132). Kylan Lindquist placed fifth (175).
