N’Guessan to Return for Senior Season in 2024-25


MANHATTAN, Kan. ( – Senior David N’Guessan will return to Kansas State in 2024-25 and use his extra season of eligibility it was announced on his social media accounts on Tuesday afternoon (April 30).

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound wing has played the last two seasons (2022-24) at K-State after transferring from Virginia Tech, where he played two seasons (2020-22). He has seen action in 120 games in his college career, including 39 starts, leading the Hokies and Wildcats to 83 victories, including 4 postseason appearances (3 NCAA, 1 NIT).

The Dutch national is coming off a career season in 2023-24, posting career-highs for scoring (7.8 ppg.), total points (265), double-digit scoring games (14), field goals made (111) and attempted (190), double-doubles (3), rebounding (6.8 rpg.), total rebounds (230), assists (31), blocks (26), steals (24) and total minutes (935).

N’Guessan’s 14 double-digit scoring games in 2023-24 were more than his previous 3 seasons combined (11), while he registered 3 double-doubles, including the first of his career in the opener vs. No. 21/22 USC (11/6/23). He also turned in an 11-point, 16-rebound performance in the Wildcats’ 65-58 win over No. 6/6 Iowa State in home finale.

In 2023-24, N’Guessan averaged 7.8 points on 58.4 percent (111-of-190) shooting with 6.8 rebounds in 27.5 minutes per game while playing in all 34 games with 21 starts. Among his 14 double-digit scoring games were seven in the final 10 games of season, where he averaged 9.4 points on 60.9 percent (39-of-64) from the field to go 6.7 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game. He was at his best coming off the bench in the last 13 games, where he averaged 8.5 points on 59.7 percent (46-of-77) shooting with 6.3 rebounds in 26.7 minutes per game.

For his K-State career, N’Guessan is averaging 7.2 points on 62.9 percent (188-of-299) shooting with 5.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.7 blocks in 23.8 minutes per game while playing in 63 games with 39 starts. Overall, he has averaged 5.3 points on 59 percent (261-of-442) shooting with 4.0 rebounds in 18.2 minutes per game in his 120-game college career.

N’Guessan has one season of eligibility after the NCAA gave all student-athletes who competed during the 2020-21 athletics season an extra season of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

K-State finished the 2023-24 season with a 19-15 record, including a tie for ninth in the Big 12 with an 8-10 mark, and advanced to the NIT. Among the Wildcats’ 19 victories were 4 over Top 25 teams, including 3 in the Top 10. The team has won 45 games in head coach Jerome Tang‘s tenure, including consecutive postseason appearances.
