HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (GoNeosho.com) – The Neosho panthers faced #3 Iowa Lakes in the National Semi Final in Huntsville this evening. The panthers opened the scoring with Dylan Roberts who netted from close range with yet another excellent assist from Joe Taylor in the first half of play. The panthers continued to show their defensive qualities in the first half and led into half time with a 1-0 lead.
The second half was very much of the same, the panthers held a very structured defensive shape to counter the quality of Iowa Lakes offensive attacks. Midway through the second half, Lucas Comitre netted the second for the panthers from yet another Joe Taylor cross from a corner. This put the panthers up 2-0 with about 20 minutes to play.
The panthers then netted their third with 5 minutes to go when Aidan Bennett smartly slide his shot past the Iowa Lakes goalkeeper. Iowa Lakes then pushed on to score a late consolation goal with just 3 minutes left on the clock to make the game 3-1.
The panthers will head to their first ever National Championship game this Saturday where they will face off against Northeast Community College in Huntsville at 3PM. The National Championship game will be streamed live on the NJCAA Network.
