OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (GoNeosho.com) – Neosho Men’s Soccer battled their way to a hard-fought 3-1 victory over #7-ranked Johnson County Community College on Wednesday. Neosho struck first in the 18th minute when #14 Dylan Roberts opened the scoring, giving the Panthers an early 1-0 lead. Both teams fought for control in a closely contested first half, with Neosho holding their advantage heading into the break.
The Panthers came out strong in the second half, and Roberts doubled their lead with his second goal of the match in the 52nd minute. Just two minutes later, Johnson County responded with a goal in the 54th minute, cutting the lead to 2-1 and putting pressure back on Neosho. However, the Panthers responded quickly, sealing the game in the 62nd minute when #10 Asaph Silveira found the back of the net, securing a 3-1 lead. Neosho held strong for the remainder of the match to claim a well-earned victory over the nationally ranked Johnson County side.
The Panthers are back in action on Monday, October 7th, at 8 p.m. as they travel to Evangel University.
