Neosho County Wins KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Soccer Regular Season Title, Earns Top Seed In Region 6/9 Tournament

COLBY, Kan. (KJCCC.org) – Ending the regular season on a nine-match winning streak, Neosho County Community College has won the 2024 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Men’s Soccer regular season title to earn the top overall seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 6/9 Tournament which is set to begin on Thursday, October 31st.

The Panthers earn a second-straight KJCCC regular season title after earning a co-KJCCC title last season with Johnson County as NCCC went 7-0-1 in conference play this season and outscored KJCCC opponents 30-7 with three shutouts in eight matches. Against NJCAA Region 9 opponents, Neosho was equally as impressive by winning all four matches against Southeast Community College and Central Community College with three shutout wins and a tie by outscoring the Raiders and Bobcats by a combined total of 17-1 and capped off a 14-1-2 regular season record with a 3-1 win at NJCAA Division 2 number 15 ranked Heartland Community College this past Saturday.

Other teams to qualify for the NJCAA Region 6/9 postseason tournament include number two seed Johnson County Community College as the Cavaliers went 10-2-0 in Region 6/9 play with their only two losses coming to Neosho County while Central Community College (7-4-1 in Region 6/9 play) earns the number three seed and Pratt is the number four seed after going 6-5-1 in Region 6/9 play.

The 2024 NJCAA Region 6/9 postseason tournament will begin on Thursday, October 31st as the single-elimination tournament will see all games played at the higher seed among the two teams within the match. Opening round games will see number one seed Neosho County host four seed Pratt at 5 PM while the other semifinal matchup will feature number two seed Johnson County play host to three seed Central (Nebraska) at 7 PM. The two winners are set to play each other on Saturday, November 2nd at the highest remaining seed with the winner earning the right to host the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer Plains District Tournament title game against the winner of the NJCAA Region 11/13 tournament on Saturday, November 9th.
