SALINA, Kan. – McPherson High School Girls Golf played in the Salina Central Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 9, placing 3rd with a near-record team score.

The Bullpups finished with a team score of 334, just five strokes more than what would have been a new school record. The team finished behind 6A powerhouse Manhattan (294) and 5A contender Bishop Carroll (324).

Senior Brodie Kuhn led the Bullpups with 73, tying for 5th place individually. Andi Buschbom, another Bullpup senior, finished tied for 10th with a score of 82. Junior Pera Bauer also placed in the top 15, tying for 12th with 86.

“I was very proud of our team score,” Head Coach Treg Fawl said. “We were in the same group with Manhattan (a powerhouse in 6A and maybe the best team in the state) and Bishop Carroll (a top contender in 5A). It was good for our team to compete with them.

McPherson will now prepare for their next tournament, which will be on Monday, Sept. 15, in Wellington.
