Four Hutchinson Monarchs pitchers combined to give up four hits Thursday, and the Monarchs remained undefeated during the young season as they beat the Kansas Cannons 2-0 at Hobart-Detter Field.
Lachlan Rosser pitched the first two innings and was credited with the win after giving up one hit and striking out three.
Bradyn McClure followed with four shutout innings, giving up two hits while striking out five. Carson Gonzales pitched the seventh and eighth innings, giving up one hit, and Mitchell Johnson slammed the door in the ninth inning, striking out the side to earn the save.
The pitchers got all the help they would need in the second inning on Blake Bradford’s solo home run. Drew Bugner added an RBI double in the eighth inning.
The Monarchs are now 4-0 and will travel today to Augusta to take on the Cannons.
