The Hutchinson Monarchs scored six runs with two outs in the second inning Friday night, and the Monarchs won their seventh straight game in a 13-0 win over the Diamond Kings.
The win improved the Monarchs to 21-7 in Jayhawk Collegiate League play. They remain 1.5 games ahead of the Kansas Cannons for first place with four league games left.
The Monarchs led 2-0 when they had two on base and two outs in the bottom of the second inning. An error on a routine ground ball to second base was pivotal as the Monarchs punished the Diamond Kings with six runs after.
The next inning, Blake Bradford belted a two-run double to make the lead double digits.
Kamden Edge earned the win on the mound for the Monarchs.
The Monarchs return home for a 7 p.m. game Saturday against the Diamond Kings. They will play after that at 7 p.m. Monday in a non-league game against the Wichita Black Sox.
