The Derby Twins scored six runs over the final three innings, including three in the ninth inning, as the Twins overcame a four-run deficit to beat the Hutchinson Monarchs 9-8 on Sunday in Derby.
The loss dropped the Monarchs to 8-2.
The Monarchs ouhit another opponent, this time 13-9. Five Monarchs had two hits apiece, including Jeter Worthley, Drew Bugner, Tyson Vassart, Jake Knox and Caylin Grimes. Knox also drove in four runs.
The Monarchs were in control, leading 7-3 after scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead. A two-out, two-run single off pitcher Russell Copous drove in the tying and winning runs.
The Monarchs are back on the road Monday, playing at Kingman.
