MHS Volleyball Sweeps Competition to Win Wichita Southeast Invite

WICHITA, Kan. – McPherson High School Volleyball did not lose a set in the five matches they played in the Wichita Southeast Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20, winning the tournament and increasing their win streak to 10 in a row.

The team was scheduled to play Wichita-Independent, but a forfeit gave McPherson the win. They then faced the host school, sweeping Wichita-Southeast in two sets (25-17, 25-17). What followed were two impressive two-set victories, beating Wichita Life Prep (25-6, 25-10) and Wichita-South (25-12, 25-9).

The Bullpups ended up playing a pair of matches against Goddard, winning the first of which in a two-set sweep (25-15, 25-16). The two schools met later in the championship match, where McPherson swept them again (25-16, 25-19). The tournament ended with six wins for McPherson, winning 12 sets and losing none.

It was a terrific day for Ava Romero, who finished with 36 kills, 46 digs, 12 service aces, and four blocks. Brooke Doile added 39 kills and 32 digs. Rylie Whitfield had 100 assists and 13 service aces.

The Bullpups have won 10 matches in a row and have a record of 15-3. They will travel to Wichita Collegiate for a triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
