McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – The Central Christian College of Kansas Men’s Soccer team was in action over Labor Day as they took on the Bethany College Swedes. The Tigers (2-0), came into the game looking to build on their momentum from their last win over Sterling.

Neither team dominated possession to start the game. The Tigers broke through first in the 31st minute as Marco Cherchi found the back of the net. The Tigers would take their 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Returning from halftime, the Tigers built on their lead after a goal from Nick Arenare at the 68th minute. His first goal of the season gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead but they would not take their foot off the gas just yet. Senior Johnny Rodriguez would get in on the action, finding the back of the net off a Central corner kick. The Tigers would go on to win the match 3-0 over the Swedes.

One of the bright spots on defense for the Tigers came in goal as transfer Sophomore John Stottlemire got his first start against the Swedes. Stottlemire was able to pitch a shutout, stopping all four shots on goal by the Swedes.

Next up, the Tigers (3-0), take on the Tabor College Bluejays (0-1-1) in Hillsboro, Kan. on September 7th at 7:30PM. The game will be streamed live on the KCAC Network. A link to the game will be provided on the athletic website.
