McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – In as good of a defensive battle, the Central Christian Tigers played to a draw against the Wayland Baptist Pioneers 1-1. The Pioneers Jamol Williams shot at goal saved by TJ Foster, went right back to Williams who got the shot past Foster on his 2nd attempt. Nearly 2 minutes later in the 20th minute, Nicholas Arenare’s Header shot was saved by Wayland and followed up with the 1st goal of the season by Mattia Cola, an equalizer to tie it 1-1, which stayed the score in an evenly played 1st half. The 2nd half saw the Pioneers get 7 shots at goal before the Tigers were able to get a shot. But TJ Foster was strong at goal collecting 6 saves throughout the match. The Tigers were able to get three good looks and shots at goal in the final 3 minutes of intense play, with near misses by Marco Cherchi, a shot by Filippo Coscarella that was blocked by Pioneer goalie Alex Neri, and a header shot by Joan Muncharaz, was just high on the goal in the 89th minute.
The Tigers return to action on the road to take on SAC foe Mid-America Christian University (6-1-3, 1-0-1). Kickoff is set for 7:30pm and can be seen on the SAC Sports Network.
