Oklahoma City, Okla. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Men’s Soccer Team took the road to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma City University Stars in the season opener for both teams.
The Swedes, fielding almost a brand-new starting lineup from last year, looked to try and find some chemistry as Sebastian Gonzalez Cerro would take the first shot of the season for Bethany, but the Stars goalie would save it. The scoreless tie was broken by Oklahoma City by way of three goals in just as many minutes to put Bethany in a hole. Unfortunately, that was too much for the Swedes as the Stars would take this one 8-0 in the end.
Sebastian Gonzalez Cerro would lead the Swedes in shots taken (3) and would tie for shots on goal (1) with Daniel Restrepo. Marco Paniagua drew the opening start for Bethany and would record six saves throughout the contest.
