Men’s Soccer Bulldogs Tripped Up by Baker in Season Opener

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs opened their season Saturday (Aug. 19) in a late-night bout against Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan.

The Wildcats wasted no time putting points on the board, scoring 93 seconds into the game. Then, Abdul Kanu answered in the 16th minute, finding a rebound from a free-kick from the top of the box by Anthony Pereira.

The Bulldogs had more opportunities in the first half when Pereira broke away thanks to a turnover, but his shot went wide left.

Gyorgy Kamaras put the Wildcats on top late in the opening half, scoring on a penalty kick. Baker would add to their lead less than five minutes into the second half.

Pereira paced the Bulldogs with three shots, while Kanu and Gabe Porras each had one attempt. Camden Wiseman made five saves in goal in his first career start.

The Bulldogs return to the pitch on Aug. 30 when they make their home debut at McPherson Stadium against Briar Cliff. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
