WICHITA, Kan. — The McPherson College men’s soccer squad was picked to finish fifth in the KCAC this season following KCAC Virtual Media Day on Thursday (Aug. 3).

Oklahoma Wesleyan, the defending regular-season and tournament champions, picked up 13 first-place votes, while Ottawa finished with 151 points and the remaining first-place tally.

Saint Mary was picked third with 140 points, followed by Friends with 132 points. The Bulldogs round out the top five with 125 points.

The Bulldogs return just three starters from a season ago, but first-year head coach Kent Freund is optimistic about the season.

“We’ve got some holes to fill, but that is an exciting possibility for some younger guys to step into those roles,” Freund said. “I am looking forward to continuing the tradition here at McPherson College, and putting a good product on the field.”

The Bulldogs open the season on Aug. 19 against Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
