McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – The Central Christian College of Kansas Men’s Golf team hosted the Central Kansas Classic this past Monday and Tuesday at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kansas.
The tournament was cut to 36 holes for both the men and women as showers and lightning impacted play on Monday. Tyler Hoxie led the way for the Tigers after day one, firing a solid 2-over par 72. Overall, the team shot a 289 and this put them in second place heading into the final round.
Day two would feel similar to the first as there was a lightning delay 45 minutes into the start of the final round. The delay lasted 40 minutes then play would resume. The Tigers began the day nine shots out of first place as a team and aimed to catch up to the leaders. Central would gain ground, getting to within two shots of the leaders, Iowa Western. They could not complete the comeback as the Reivers took home the team title. Central finished in second out of 15, shooting 583 across the two rounds.
Tyler Hoxie was the low medalist for the Tigers, making All-Tournament Team after a day two, even par 70 for a total of 142 which would give him 5th place individually.
