NEWTON, Kan. (BlueDragonSports.com) – Three golfers all shot 1-over 73s on Sunday morning to lead the No. 3-ranked Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team after one round of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational at Sand Creek Station.
The Blue Dragons posted an opening round 6-over 294 to find themselves in fifth place, just four shots off the team lead after Round 1.

Teeing off on No. 10 at Sand Creek Station, the Blue Dragons got off to a 2-under par start through nine holes, but played the back nine – holes 1 through 9 – in 8 over to finish at 294.
The University of Denver leads the field after a 2-over 290. Wichita State, Incarnate Word and Xavier are tied for second at 293. The Blue Dragons are the highest-placing NJCAA team through one round. Indian Hills is eighth at 300 and Dodge City is 13th after a 307.
The Blue Dragons tee of between 8:30 and 9:10 a.m. on Monday off Tee No. 1 with SIU-Edwardsville, Northern Colorado and Indian Hills.
No Blue Dragon individual players are in the Top 10 after one round. Sophomores Charlie Box and Louis Ross and freshman Jack Northgraves all posted round of 73 on Sunday. Sophomore David Razinskas is tied for 31st after a 75. Freshman Jaydon Carruthers is tied for 53rd after a round of 77.
Southern Indiana’s Jason Bannister leads the individual race after posting a 4-under 68 on Sunday.
