McPHERSON, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – Warrior basketball opened their season on Thursday night with a huge win over Barclay College, 95-34. They followed that up with two more games in as many nights. Sterling fell to Central Christian College on Friday night at the Classic for Christ, 90-71. Saturday afternoon they were able to ramp it back up and beat Manhattan Christian 72-58.
As of the time of this article, no stats have been posted for the Barclay game on Thursday night. On Friday, Sterling had a great start to the first half, but a late run gave Central Christian a 44-31 lead. Sterling held tight in the second half, but couldn’t claw back into the game and took the loss. Damond Daniels led Sterling in scoring with 20, and Mooch Austin came in right behind with 19 points and led the team with 7 rebounds. Jayden Garrison rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12. Graduate transfer, Elijah Herron, led the team from the point and ended with 4 assists and 3 blocks, but his ability to see two passes ahead is what will set him apart this season.
