SALINA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes shot 48.2 percent from the field and scored 40 points in the paint Saturday (Feb. 3) to knock off the McPherson College Bulldogs 75-65 at Mabee Arena in Salina, Kan.
Collin Storr pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds to go along with a team-best 17 points. Jamil Hardaway added 12 points and three steals.
The Bulldogs used a hot start to jump out to a 12-2 lead after the first five minutes, but the Coyotes quickly erased that lead with a 15-4 burst to lead 17-16 with 9:58 to play in the half.
A triple by Hardaway with 2:51 left in the half put the Bulldogs on top 32-26, but a 6-0 run by the Coyotes to close the half, knotted the score at 32-32.
KWU pulled away early in the second half, leading by as many as 60-44 with 11 minutes to play. A 14-2 burst by the Bulldogs trimmed the lead to four, but from there the Coyotes kept MC at bay.
Alex Littlejohn paced the Coyotes with 19 points and two blocks. Jun Murdock added 18 points and five rebounds.
The Bulldogs were held to 38.8 percent shooting, and were just 7-for-27 from beyond the arc.
MC will be back in action Wednesday for a huge KCAC matchup against Evangel University. The Valor and the Bulldogs are tied for fourth place in the KCAC standings. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
