
LINDSBORG, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College captured the KCAC Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan.
The Bulldogs are now 21-7 on the season while picking up their second consecutive KCAC Tournament Championship.
Head coach Craig Holman‘s team jumped out to a 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point. Second-seeded Bella Ellerbee and Taimi Nashiku registered a hard fought 7-5 win over their opponents. Pia Hinricher and Laureen Van Drunen accounted for a 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot, securing the point for the KCAC regular-season champions.
Nashiku continued her solid day with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
Hinricher garnered a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 slot while Ellerbee tallied a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 position for the championship.
The remaining matches ended after the Bulldogs secured the title. Van Drunen was leading 7-5, 0-1 at the No. 4 slot while Alexandria Garcia had taken the first set from her foe 6-1 but trailed 3-2 in the second stanza. Vanessa Hofer was trailing 2-6, 1-4 in the No. 2 spot.
The Bulldogs will compete in the NAIA National Championship May 13-17.
