SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (MacBulldogs.com) – The Bulldogs were unable to secure their first win of the season as they fell on the road to the John Brown University Golden Eagles on Wednesday (Nov. 13).
It was a strong start in the first quarter for the Bulldogs as they shot the ball at a 46% clip and kept well within striking distance of the Golden Eagles, who held just a six point lead at the end of the quarter. Things unraveled in the second as MC went 1-9 from the field and scored just five points all quarter as they trailed John Brown 33-20 heading into halftime.
The Golden Eagles started the second half red hot as opposed to an ice cold start for MC. John Brown shot at a 50% clip while the Bulldogs shot just 25% in the third quarter to grow their lead to as big as 20. McPherson had no answer strong enough in the fourth as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 67-46 victory. The Bulldogs never held the lead and were bested in most statistical categories, including being outrebounded 52-34 in the contest.
Gillian Rodgers led the Bulldogs in scoring, tying her season high with 14 points to go along with four rebounds. Kennedy Smith had another near double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds.
The Bulldogs return to Holman Fieldhouse to open up KCAC Conference play as they face off against Southwestern College. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
