McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College Bulldogs broke a two-game losing skid Saturday (Feb. 8) with an 86-76 win in a dogfight against the University of Saint Mary Spires inside Holman Fieldhouse.
Curtis Rose led the way with a season-best 26 points, three assists, and three steals, while Charles Snyder added 14 points, thanks to an efficient 7-for-10 shooting from the field. Antonio Watson scored 13 points, while Collin Storr finished with 10 points.
The Spires got nearly whatever they wanted inside through the first 20 minutes, scoring 28 of their 42 first-half points in the paint, and ten more at the free throw line. However, the Bulldogs were just as efficient, shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc to 43-42 advantage into the locker room.
MC never trailed in the second half, mounting a 59-48 advantage over the first five minutes. From there, the closest the Spires would come was 67-63 after a triple by Mason Belcher.
The Bulldogs held USM to just 14.3 percent (2-for-14) from three-point range, while the Spires shot 58.1 percent (18-for-31) at the charity stripe. MC was 25-for-29 at the free throw line.
MC is back in action Wednesday (Feb. 12) for the second game of their three-game homestand. Tipoff against York University is slated for 8:00 p.m.
