McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson High School Bullpups’ fall sports teams have officially wrapped up their regular seasons, with multiple sports qualifying for the postseason.
The lone exception to the previous statement is for the Girls Golf team, who already played in the State Championship meet placing in 3rd place in 4A. The full results can be found towards the end of this article.
FOOTBALL
The Bullpup football team wrapped up their regular season Friday, Oct. 25 with a 28-21 loss on the road to Buhler, putting them at a 4-4 record. The better news is that they will host the first round game of the playoffs Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. as the No. 8 seed in the 4A West Region.
McPherson will host No. 9 Abilene, who finished 3-5 on the regular season. Whoever wins this game will face the winner of the first round game between No. 1 Wamego and No. 16 Independence.

VOLLEYBALL
Despite finishing the regular season 22-15 and heading to Sub-State as the No. 6 team in the 4A West region, the Bullpups went to Andale to win Sub-State and send them to the State Tournament for the second year in a row.
McPherson started the day with a thriller against No. 11 Wellington, winning the game in three sets to move on to the Sub-State Finals. Waiting for McPherson was the host school No. 3 Andale, who was 29-6 at that time. The Bullpups would pull off the road upset in just two sets to send them to State in Hutchinson.
The tournament will start Friday, Nov. 1 with pool play. The semi-finals and finals will be Saturday, Nov. 2.
The Bullpups will have three pool matchups and they head to the tournament as the No. 7 seed. They’ll play No. 2 Rock Creek at 9:30 a.m., No. 3 Clearwater at 10:30 a.m., then will close it off No. 6 Concordia at 12:30 p.m.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Bullpup Cross Country teams each placed 2nd in Regionals in Buhler, qualifying them for the State Championship meet in Wamego Saturday, Nov. 2.
Seven total runners medaled between the boys and girls teams as they look for a successful day Saturday at the Wamego Country Club. The boys team will have 10 runners at State while the girls team will have seven participants.

BOYS SOCCER
The Boys Soccer team finished the regular season Oct. 24 at home against Great Bend with a 4-2 victory, finishing their regular season 8-7-1. The standings finish them at No. 7 in the 4-1A West Region, which puts McPherson in the #2 Regional bracket.
The Bullpups will face No. 10 Buhler at home Tuesday, Oct. 29. If they win, they will face the winner of No. 2 Wichita-Trinity Academy and No. 15 Wichita-Central Christian Academy.

GIRLS GOLF – 3rd
The McPherson Bullpup Girls Golf team finished the season last week at Hesston for the State Championship meet.
The team finished with a total score of 727, finishing in 3rd place. Topeka-Hayden took home the title and Wellington finished as runners-up.
Brodie Kuhn finished 5th with a score of 159 (+17). Andi Buschbom tied for 12th place with 171 (+29). Pere Bauer finished in 47th, Hattie Gibson in 49th, and Addison French in 55th. The individual champion was Wamego’s Addison Douglas, who finished with 142 (E).
“I am very proud of this team,” head coach Treg Fawl said.
