McPherson High School Announces New Hi-Steppers Head Coach Renee Huber

McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School is pleased to announced that Renee Huber is the next head coach of the Hi-Steppers dance team.

Renee attended college at Wichita State University. While at WSU, Renee was a member of the dance team for all four years where she helped her team compete and earn top honors at the national level with NDA and UDA.

Renee received her BFA in Dance from Wichita State University in 2017. As a dance major at WSU, Renee attended and performed in several American College Dance Festivals, Kansas Dance Festivals, and department dance concerts. While in college, Renee was also a member of the Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre, and in 2016 she had the opportunity to tour with WCDT in Mexico.

After college, Renee began teaching & choreographing at various studios around the midwest. She dedicated three years to being a full-time teacher at Brooks Magnet Middle School for STEM and the Arts where she developed a dance program that allowed students to learn and grow a love for the art.

Renee has always had a strong passion for the dance team environment. She has choreographed for many high school dance teams across the region. She also served as the assistant coach for the Kapaun Mt. Carmel dance team and head coach for the Bishop Carrol dance team from 2016 2020.

In May of 2020, Renee opened Renee’s Dance Academy in McPherson, KS. As well as owning her business, she is company director of Encore! Dance Studios in Wichita and continues to travel around the region to teach and choreograph for other dance teams and studios.

Renee is ecstatic to be returning to her role as a high school dance team coach. She hopes to continue the McPherson Hi-Steppers legacy as well as bring on more opportunities for the program.
