The McPherson High School JV Girls Tennis team demonstrated that the future of the program is not only bright, but blindingly so, as the team won the JV League Tournament to conclude the season.
All Bullpup competitors went to the championship in the singles and doubles tournaments. Ava Miller defeated McKenna Paul in the Singles, and Audra Sandbo / Sadie Krug won the tournament over Brenna Sullivan / Piper VanCampen in the Doubles.
“This is the first girls season where the JV League tournament is set up as an open draw, where both players/teams get placed on the same bracket,” Ricardo Sanchez, JV Girls Tennis coach, said. “We had so many girls that could have competed well and we have several others that have the ability to do just as well, but we’re only limited to bringing six players.”
According to Sanchez, the team finished with a combined four losses on the season, all of which were against fellow teammates. “It was a fun season, that’s for sure,” Sanchez said.
Varsity tennis’ league tournament will be at Buhler on Monday, Oct. 6.
