SALINA, Kan. – After having to perform at the Hesston Invitational Thursday, McPherson High School Track & Field followed up with another meet the next day in the Salina Invitational.
“This is one of the toughest meets we participate in leading up to League and Regionals, as we see a majority of 5A and 6A competition,” head coach John Montgomery said. “While the placements may not have been as high as many would have liked, there were many PR’s made over the course of the evening!”
The Bullpup girls only finished in the top three in a handful of events against tough schools, but capturing the spotlight was Mallory Holmes after winning the Triple Jump at 37′ 2.5″, which also put her in first place in 4A. McPherson also finished in the top three in other events with the 4x800M Relay, Jayla McLeod in the 200M Dash, Arihanna Koehn in the 100M Hurdles, and Andi Buschbom in the Long Jump.
The boys squad finished towards the top in other events, finishing 2nd in the 4x800M Relay, Caleb Muehler winning the 3200M Run, and Jayce Schriner finishing 4th in the 200M Dash and the Long Jump
The Bullpups will host the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League (AVCTL) meet Thursday, May 9.
