LAWRENCE, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – It was another strong showing for the Bulldogs as they traveled to Lawrence to take on the NAIA West Weekend tournament this weekend (Feb. 1-Feb.2).

Day one saw MC compete in five traditional team game matches where the Bulldogs were matched up against another team and went head to head with the total pinfall for the game deciding the winner.  The Bulldogs got off to a rough start, shooting 761 for the first game but rebounded nicely with games of 860, 908, 839, and 883 for a 5-game total of 4251 on the day and a 3-2 match play record. The 3-2 record on day one landed MC in 6th place for the tournament and a pinfall of 4251 was strong enough for a 7th place finish in the USBC power rankings.

Veronyca West, who has put in multiple strong showing since coming to MC for the spring semester, led the way with a five game total of 921 for a 184.2 average which placed her 11th place overall. Jasmine Bridges also put in a solid day on the lanes, finishing in 16th place with a pinfall of 889 for a 177.8 average.

Day two saw the Bulldogs compete in five game baker matches where they were again matched up against other teams. Each five game baker sets acted as a match with our five game total pinfall versus their five game total pinfall deciding the winner.  The Bulldogs got off to a strong start and rode that wave throughout the day. The team ended their five game sets with a total pinfall of 4550 and a match play record of 3-2, bringing their overall weekend record to 6-4 to finish 7th place in the tournament. The total pinfall of 4550 on day two was good for the 4th highest pinfall on the day, bringing home a 4th place finish for USBC power rankings. The full two day total pinfall of 8801 was good for 4th on the weekend only trailing William Penn, Culver Stockton, and Ottawa.

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend for the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team will start day one play on Saturday, February 15 at 4 p.m. with day two scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 16.
