The WaKeeney-Trego High School girls wrestling team hosted the Christmas City Classic Friday at Trego Community High School.
The Lyons/Sterling girls wrestling team placed fourth with 94 points and Larned placed 10th with 56 points. With only two wrestlers competing, Halstead placed 18th with 28 points.
Lyons’ Jacynn Boeken captured a tournament championship at 115 pounds. Kennedy Grizzle (110 pounds) and Addison Morgan placed second (120 pounds). Carsyn Wagner (235 pounds) finished third.
Larned’s Miranda Nolde (105 pounds) and Paisley Weizbrod (190 pounds) placed first. Cara Herbert (130 pounds) placed fourth and Evelyn Brownlee (235 pounds) placed fifth.
Halstead’s Ashlee Ledford placed second (170 pounds) with a 3-1 record. Addi Thompson posted a 2-2 record (155 pounds) and did not place.
With 165 points, Russell High School won the team title with four weight class champions: Arianna Weigel (120 pounds), Averie Counts (130 pounds), Chaysie Bachman (140 pounds) amd Karsyn Hamlin (125 pounds).
Placing second for Russell were Aaliyah Trevino (155 pounds) and Mya Trevino (135 pounds).
