The Lyons High School boys wrestling team captured the Chase County Tournament of Champions title Saturday at Cottonwood Falls.
The Lyons boys won the team title with 194 team points. The Lions competed in 11 of 14 weight classes and eight wrestlers reached the finals.
Lyons senior 113-pounder Easton Benavidez won th Chase County title with a 4-0 record and earned his 100th career victory.
Benavidez, a three-time state qualifier, is the seventh Lyons boy to join the 100-plus victory record board. He ranked eighth in school history.
Other Lyons first-place finishers at Chase County were Jordan Gomez, 106 pounds, 3-0; Marius Lee, 120 pounds, 4-0; Landon Lewis, 126 pounds, 5-0; and Jace Grizzle, 150 pounds, 3-0.
Placing second were Greysen Lee, 120 pounds, 3-1; Emmanuel Enriquez, 132 pounds, 4-1; Juan Becerra, 138 pounds, 4-1; Ramon Villanueva, 215 pounds, 3-1.
Placing fourth were Jackson Smith, 144 pounds, 1-3; Xander Young, 156 pounds, no record listed; Dale Loughridge, 175 pounds, 1-3.
Alex Lara placed sixth at 132 pounds with a 1-2 record.
Lyons girls place 2nd Chase County wrestling tournament
The Lyons High School girls wrestling team placed second Saturday at the Chase County Tournament.
Three Lyons wrestlers placed first: Kennedy Grizzle, 105 pounds; Addison Morgan, 120; Carsyn Winger, 190. Two placed second: Mia Pulley, 100; and Isabel Gonzalez, 170.
