Lyons battled Friday but fell short to Minneapolis, 16-6.
Owen Just opened the scoring for Minneapolis with a 1 yard QB sneak with 6 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter culminating a 12 play 62 yard drive to take the 7-0 lead. As the first half was coming to a close, Minneapolis went 63 yards in 3 plays as Owen Just connected on a 45 yard TD pass to Brayton Peters to take the 14-0 lead.
Lyons got right back in the game on the opening kickoff of the 2nd half as Quanick Hamilton returned it for 80 yards. The PAT was blocked to leave the score at 14-6. Minneapolis got a safety late in the 3rd quarter to go up 16-6. Neither team was able to score in the final stanza.
Minneapolis gained a total of 274 yards on offense with 187 yards on 42 rushing attempts. Lyons was held to 61 total yards of offense. Minneapolis advances to 1-1 while Lyons falls to 0-2. Lyons will travel to Republic County next Friday.
