The Lyons High School boys cross country team placed fifth at the Kansas 3A Regional Saturday at Dodge City.
Lyons scored 138 points, led by senior Cain Villasenor, who placed 12th in the 5K race with a time of 18:01.77.
Aaron Villasenor placed 17th, 18:18.31; Derek Valeria, 39th, 19:40.34; Jose Recendiz, 41st, 19:55.89; Yassell Reyes, 43rd, 20:01.47; and Edgard Morales, 51st, 20:41.75.
Lyons’ Alli Solis placed 38th in the 3A regional girls 5K with a time of 24:08.69. Lyons’ Gracie Beaver and Tegan Tipp placed 49th and 50th with times of 27:37.96 and 28:43.15.
The state cross country meets for Classes 6A, 5A and 3A will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence. The state meets for Classes 4A, 2A and 1A will take place Nov. 1 at the Wamego Country Club.
