Losew, Lehman to Compete in NCAA Division I Track

Two of the area’s best track and field athletes will compete at the NCAA Division I level next year, according to Sports in Kansas.

Jessa Losew will compete in multi-events and high jump at Wichita State University.

The Hutchinson Central Christian High School senior, will be competing for Buhler High School (Kansas Class 4A) in the spring for track.

Losew won the Kansas Class 1A state high jump title last spring with a jump of 5 feet, 8 inches.

Hesston track and field star Ashley Lehman has announced her commitment to the University of Nebraska to continue her track career.

Lehman went 4-for-4 with gold medals at the 2024 state track meet and set three new state meet records for Kansas Class 3A.

Lehman captured the pole vault title at 12-4, clearing the bar nearly two feet higher than the runner-up. She ran a time of 11.99 seconds in the 100-meter dash to break a 35-year-old state meet record.

Lehman added another record in the 200 (24.63) and defended her 400-meter title for the third straight year with a state meet and state record time of 54.65.

As a sophomore, Lehman won the 100, 200 and 400 and placed second in the pole vault. As a freshman, she claimed her first 400 state title.
