Local Student Athletes Show Out in State Trap Shooting Tournament

SEDGWICK, Kan. – Student-athletes around Kansas came together June 14-15 in Sedgwick for the State Trap Shooting Tournament.

The 1A tournament took place Saturday, June 14, kicking off the busy weekend. Southern Coffey County took home the top spot in Novice and Jr. Varsity while taking home 2nd in Varsity by just four points. Cedar Vale-Dexter won the 1A Varsity team title.

Individually, Southern Coffey County showed out with Karley Ohl winning the Female Novice and Nyla Kraft winning the Female Jr. Varsity leaderboard. Hank Newton also won the overall individual title as well as the Male Varsity title, while teammate Jagger Jacobs finished 3rd. Little River’s Carter Krause won the Male Jr. Varsity class. Crest’s Gage Jones and Chanute’s Ashton Schultz took home Nos. 1 & 2 respectively in the Novice Male class. Lillian Brummer of St. John and Laney Butler of Macksville went Nos. 1 & 2 in the Female Varsity class.

2A followed up Sunday, June 15 in Sedgwick. Local schools showed out here as well as Uniontown won the Team Novice title and McPherson won the Team Jr. Varsity title. Individually, Kali Stagg of Uniontown won Female Novice while Timothy Ames finished 2nd in Novice Male. Brooke Henry of McPherson took 2nd in Female JV and Hesston’s Evan Koehn won Male JV.
