LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes Men’s Basketball team played host to the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies for the Swedes home opener.

Unfortunate circumstances allowed the Aggies to take a 1-0 lead the start the game. Kendall Collins would record the first field goal made to give the Swedes a short-lived lead as the Aggies would answer back on the following possession. Both teams would battle back-and-forth over the first six minutes of the contest, but OPSU would go on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes putting Bethany in a hole early. The Swedes would climb back to within three a couple of times, but the Aggies would continue to go on multiple runs of 9+ to take a commanding lead at the break up 44-27.

The second half showcased more back-and-forth action between the two teams, but the Swedes would again go through a couple of droughts before ending the contest with a 17-4 run. Ultimately, that wasn’t enough as Bethany would fall 79-59.

Kenny Haynes led the Swedes in scoring with 16 points to go along with three rebounds. JR Cison would tack on 13 points to go along with a team-high two steals. Emmanuel Akpan tallied two blocks on the evening.
