Sterling, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Lady Warriors took a 3-2 lead early in the first quarter and never looked back. Sterling was able to run away with a 77-43 in a near must win game. As the KCAC season comes to a close, the Warriors need to get every win they can to ensure their participation in the postseason tournament.
After the early lead change, Sterling scored 9 straight, and took a 23-12 lead into the second quarter. Scoring slowed a bit in the second quarter, but they never gave up any ground. The Warriors gained a point heading into the locker room with a 37-25 lead.
Coming out of the locker room, even more than the first, Sterling owned the third quarter. Outscoring their opponent 25-8 in the quarter, the game was all but decided going into the fourth quarter. Sterling continued to excel on the defensive end only giving up 10 points in the fourth quarter. When it was all said and done, the Warriors walked away with the 77-43 win.
Sterling dominated the boards all night which made up for the much closer-than-necessary turnover margin. Korynn Clason led scoring once again with 19 points, added 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Bailey Young continues her excellent play with another double-double, her third in the last games. She scored 13 points to go along with her 12 rebounds.
Sterling goes on the road next Wednesday to take on the Tabor Bluejays. After a slow stretch to start play in January, the Lady Warriors have now won three of their last five games.
