Lady Bulldogs Fall at Saint Mary


LEAVENWORTH, Kan. ( — The McPherson College Bulldogs fell 88-65 Wednesday (Jan. 4) to the (RV) University of Saint Mary Spires in Leavenworth, Kan. to open the 2024 portion of their schedule.


Gillian Rodgers and Madelyn Hankins each scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs, while Matisyn Moses added 13 points.

The Bulldogs shot 35.4 percent (23-for-65) from the field, and connected on six of their 21 shots from beyond the arc.

USM finished shooting 41.3 percent, including 11 threes, and pulled down 18 offensive rebounds. Four spires scored in double figures led by Paige Pendley and Alanis Delgado with 14 points. Tanea Sims added 11 points and 17 rebounds, while Demi Aamold finished with 10 points.

The Bulldogs led 17-16 after the first ten minutes, but a 15-2 burst by the Spires gave them a 33-22 advantage midway through the second quarter. The Spires would hold a 42-28 edge at the break.

MC will return to the Sport Center on Saturday (Jan. 6) to take on Southwestern. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
