INDIANAPOLIS (KUAthletics.com) – Kansas graduate center Hunter Dickinson has been named to the 50-member 2024-25 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) announced Monday.
Members of the association’s board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the Oscar Robertson Trophy representing the national player of the year. All Division I players remain eligible for the award. Dickinson is looking to become the second Jayhawk to win the Oscar Robertson Trophy, joining Frank Mason III who was the 2017 recipient.
On most every preseason and midseason All-America team, Dickinson leads Kansas in scoring at 16.4 points per game which ranks fourth in the Big 12. Dickinson also leads KU in rebounding at 9.7 boards per contest, which is second in the Big 12 and is 18th nationally. A three-time Big 12 Player of the Week, the Alexandria, Virginia, native is second in the Big 12 in double-doubles (9), which is 17th nationally. Dickinson is second on the team with 29 blocked shots and is also second on the team with 24 steals.
Dickinson has amassed 2,553 points and 1,351 rebounds for his career and is the only active player in NCAA Division I with more than 2,500 points and 1,300 rebounds. His points are first on the NCAA DI active list as are his 1,032 field goals made. His 57 double-doubles are third and his career 9.1 rebounds per game are fourth. Dickinson graduated from Michigan and is pursuing a master’s degree at Kansas.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner is to be announced at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, from April 5-7. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. A final watch list will be released in early and those chosen will be included on the USBWA’s annual awards ballot.
