Kurt Kinnamon Wins 600th Game at MHS as Bullpups Beat Winfield 71-55

McPHERSON, Kan. – Legendary Boys Basketball coach Kurt Kinnamon won his 600th game as the head man at McPherson on Tuesday, Jan. 13, as McPherson defeated Winfield 71-55.

The Bullpups trailed 16-13 towards the end of the first quarter, putting their 59-game win streak over Winfield in jeopardy. McPherson then found their spark in the second quarter to lead 23-18 at halftime.

McPherson’s third quarter was one of the best they had all season, starting with a 16-5 run and outscoring the Vikings 24-10 in the third quarter overall, helping the Pups run away with their third straight win 71-55.

Senior guard Jett Pyle had 25 points, shooting 10/16 on the floor and 4/6 on three-pointers. Freshman forward Eli Reasoner racked up his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Ashton Malm added 13 points.

The win for McPherson gave head coach Kurt Kinnamon his 600th win as the head coach of the Bullpups. Kinnamon is 600-127 overall in his 31st season as the coach of the Bullpups, winning 82.5% of his games. Since joining McPherson in 1995, Kinnamon has won eight state titles, including the last two seasons, and 23 league titles.

The Bullpups are now 5-5 on the season, 3-1 in AVCTL-3 play. They’ll host the Circle Thunderbirds on Saturday, Jan. 17, for Wall of Fame Night before preparing for the McPherson Invitational.
