LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas forward Jaliya Davis has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, earning the honor for the seventh-straight week to secure a new conference record for consecutive honors. The Big 12 announced its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Davis averaged 19.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in helping Kansas to a 1-1 record last week, which included an 85-68 victory over Houston on Saturday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse. She scored 14 points with four rebounds at No. 16 Texas Tech on Wednesday, before going for 25 points and five rebounds against Houston. Davis also shot 53.6 percent (15-28) from the field and 81.8 percent (9-11) from the free throw line over those two games.

Davis is now in exclusive company as the only player to ever win the Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor in seven consecutive weeks. She also becomes the third Power Conference player since at least 2008 with a streak of seven or more freshman of the week honors, joining Taniya Latson, who had eight consecutive ACC Freshman of the Week honors during the 2022-23 season, and Aneesah Morrow, who recorded seven straight Big East Freshman of the Week awards during the 2021-22 season. With seven total Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors, Davis is tied for fourth-most in conference history behind Ayoka Lee of Kansas State (12), Delaney Gibb of BYU (10) and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs of Baylor (8).
