GARDEN CITY, Kan. – At KSHSAA’s 3A State Golf Tournament in at Buffalo Dunes, Wichita Collegiate edged Trinity Academy of Wichita each day for the state title. The Spartans held a one-stroke lead after day one at 315-316 and they cleared the Knights by four strokes on Wednesday, finishing with a two-day total of 644 to 649 for Trinity.
The story of the tournament from the area were two individuals from different portions of the Ad Astra Radio area. Hesston’s Grant Waterson claimed the individual title, shooting one-under par with a 71 on Tuesday and going four-over Wednesday to finish at 147, two strokes ahead of Connor Newman of Humboldt, who finished in a tie for second place at 149. Iola’s Brennen Coffield also finished in the top ten, tied for sixth place at 153.

MCPHERSON, Kan. – In the KSHSAA 2A State Golf Tournament at Turkey Creek, despite trailing by ten strokes after day one of the tournament, Sacred Heart stormed back to outshoot the competition by 21 strokes on Tuesday, claiming their record 10th consecutive 2A state title. They trailed Syracuse after the first day, but the Bulldogs struggled on day two in comparison. Sacred Heart finished with a two day score of 611, 17 strokes better than Syracuse.
Individually, Noah Dowell of Hoxie took the championship with an even par 140 for the two-day event. He finished two strokes ahead of Oakley’s Easton Fink. From the area, Tyler Casebolt of Trinity Catholic finished in 14th place, while Cameron Morris of Sterling and Luke Heinz of Ellinwood each tied for 18th.
