KJCCC Division 2 Men’s Basketball Predicted Order Of Finish Sees Johnson County Picked To Win League Title, Allen To Finish 4th, Neosho 6th, and Hesston 7th

COLBY, Kan. (KJCCC.org) – Back-to-back NJCAA Region 6 Tournament Champion Johnson County Community College has been picked to win the 2024-25 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Men’s Basketball regular season in the conference’s annual predicted order of finish as voted on by league coaches ahead of the regular season.

In a tightly contested poll that saw the top two teams separated by a total of two points, the Cavaliers edge out metro area rival and 2023-24 KJCCC Division 2 men’s basketball regular season champion Kansas City Kansas after receiving 61 total points with five of eight possible first-place votes. JCCC was picked either first or second on all eight ballots with the Blue Devils also being picked to finish in the top two on every ballot while finishing with 59 total points and the remaining three first-place votes. Both KCKCC and Johnson County won on the other’s home court last season as the two split the regular season series and did not meet in the postseason after seeing the Blue Devils upset in the Region 6 Tournament semifinal round which allowed JCCC to win the tournament and earn the conference’s automatic qualification into the 2024 NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament.

After finishing tied for third last season, Highland is picked to finish third after receiving 42 total points to finish 11 points ahead of fourth-place Allen (31 points) in the poll as the Scotties will look for another high finish within the conference under second-year head coach Jon Oler. Following the fourth-place Red Devils is Fort Scott Community College (28 points), Neosho County Community College (27 points), Hesston College (25 points), and Labette (15 points).

All eight league teams will open their season during the opening weekend of the season as the 2024-25 season will begin on Friday, November 1st with five games taking place among conference schools. Non-conference action will take place throughout the opening two months of the season before seeing KJCCC play begin on Saturday, January 11th as all eight teams will play a 14-game home-and-home double-round-robin conference schedule against one another.

The 2025 NJCAA Region 6 Tournament will begin on Monday, March 3rd with the top four- teams in the final regular season standings hosting the bottom four teams in the standings for the right to advance to the semifinal round. The semifinals and finals will take place March 7-8 on the campus of Johnson County Community College inside the JCCC Gymnasium with the NJCAA Division 2 Men’s Basketball National Tournament slated to take place March 17-22, 2025 in Danville, Illinois.
