IOLA, Kan. – The KC Iola Hormigas were in Iola against the Blackwell Flycatchers, holding on to win in 11 innings in walk-off fashion.

The Hormigas had a 6-0 lead, thanks to a power hitting on a two-run single from Oscar Galvez and a home run by Zachary Trangmar. However, Blackwell stormed back with three innings in the 4th and one in the 5th. They’d tie it up in the top of the 9th on a two-run home run.

It took just two extra innings, but the Hormigas loaded the bases on three walks to start the bottom of the 11th. With Chaves at the plate, a wild pitch was thrown to score Galvez, ending the game in a walk-off win.

The Hormigas won two out of three against Blackwell, giving them their first series win of the season. The team is 3-12 on the season. They travel to Nebraska for a divisional matchup against the North Platte 80s.
