KC Iola Hormigas Earn First Win Streak of Season

IOLA, Kan. – The KC Iola Hormigas defeated the Trinidad Triggers 9-2 Monday, June 23 in Iola, giving them their first winning streak of the season.

The team had 18 hits in total, three of which were home runs and one other was a double. Nicholas Chaves and Reed Carter had three hits apiece to lead the team. One of Carter’s hits were for his fourth home run of the season. Three other Hormigas had a multi-hit game as well.

The pitching was just as elite as the offense. Colin Sepulveda threw the complete game, allowing just four hits and striking out six batters.

The Hormigas are now 5-14 on the season. They will stay in Iola for two straight days starting Tues., June 24, playing the Sante Fe Fuego. Both games will be at 6:00 p.m. at Allen Community College.
