KC Iola Hormigas Begin Final Home Series, Fall to Flycatchers 10-8

IOLA, Kan. – The KC Iola Hormigas began their final regular season home series Sun., July 20 in Iola, falling to the Blackwell Flycatchers 10-8.

The Hormigas took the lead after trailing 2-0, putting up three runs in the first frame, adding a run in the 2nd, and two more runs in the 5th to lead 6-2. The Flycatchers took the lead in the 6th inning by putting up five runs thanks to an error, three hits, and three walks. Blackwell put up a two-run 7th to extend their lead making the score 9-6.

KC Iola tried to mount the comeback by putting up a run in the 7th and one in the 9th, but still came up short. Devin Radar led the offense going 3-6 with an RBI. Oscar Galvez went 2-5 with a pair of doubles. Miguel Tejada went 1-6 with a home run and two RBI’s.

The Hormigas are now 11-27 on the season. Game two of the three-game series will be in Iola Mon., July 21 at 7 p.m.
