LAWRENCE, Kan – The Kansas Jayhawks Men’s Basketball team as agreed with the University of Connecticut (UConn) for a home-and-home series starting in 2025.

The first meeting of the new series will be at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The series will then head to Storrs, Conn., home of the Huskies, in 2026.

The Jayhawks and the Huskies last met at Allen Fieldhouse on Dec. 1, 2023 in a game that featured the previous two national champions. Kansas won the game in Lawrence 69-65, but UConn would end up winning their second straight title that season. Kansas lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Gonzaga as a No. 4 seed.

KU and UConn have met only four times in history, but the most previous meeting was UConn’s first game at Allen Fieldhouse. All four meetings saw a Kansas victory.

The first meeting was Jan. 28, 1995 in Kansas City, Mo., seeing an 88-59 KU victory. The teams then met two years later in 1997 in Hartford, Conn., with KU winning 73-65. Then the two teams didn’t meet until March 19, 2016 in the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa. KU won 73-61.

The addition of UConn adds onto an already stacked non-conference schedule for KU. The Jayhawks will also meet with Duke in the Champions Classic in the beginning of the season. They will also be on the road against North Carolina and NC State as well as play their rival Missouri in Kansas City.

KU will also participate in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, a stacked 18-team tournament that includes teams like Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Houston, Creighton, Gonzaga, St. John’s, and Tennessee to name a few teams who have already committed to the tournament. The Festival is a week-long College Basketball showcase that features financial prizes including funding educational programs and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for players.
