TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas High School Soccer Coaches Association has announced its All-State teams and players and coaches of the year for each of the three girls’ classifications.
St. Thomas Aquinas’ Sydney Watts was named the Class 5A forward of the year for the second straight year after leading the Saints to their third straight state championship. St. James Acacemy’s Addison Tauscher was named the 5A goalkeeper of the year for the second straight year as well after the Thunder finished third.
Aquinas and St. James swept the player honors in 5A with Aquinas’ Anisten Cabantac and St. James’ Lauren Steinlage sharing midfielder of the year honors and Aquinas’ Jane Hansen earning defender of the year honors. Aquinas coach Dan Brown and Bishop Carroll coach Greg Rauch shared coach of the year honors in 5A with Rauch leading the Golden Eagles to a runner-up finish.
In Class 6A, Olathe West’s Lily Hendrickson was named co-midfielder of the year after being named the 6A defender of the year last year. Hendrickson share midfielder honors this year with Mill Valley’s Laney Reishus, who helped lead the Jaguars to their first Class 6A state title.
Mill Valley teammate Olivia Page was named the 6A defending of the year and Jaguar coach Jason Pendleton was named the 6A coach of the year after earning the honor in 5A last year. Shawnee Mission East, which finished runner-up in 6A, garnered the other two player honors with Ashley Koch named forward of the year and Grace Hastert named goalkeeper of the year. The honor was the second for Koch as well, also named forward of the year as a sophomore in 2021.
Bishop Miege’s Livi Shull also was an honoree for the second straight year, named 4-1A goalkeeper of the year again after helping the Stags to their seventh straight state title. Miege teammate Dory Latenser was named co-forward of the year along with Cair Paravel’s Katherine Keys while Miege’s Kate Pedrotti was named defender of the year. Stag coach Nate Huppe and Cair Paravel’s Doug Woolery were named co-coaches of the year.
McPherson’s Sadie Law and Eudora’s Jayla Erpelding shared midfielder of the year honors.
