MCPHERSON, Kan. – Say this much for McPherson football. The Bullpups don’t believe in playing a light non-conference schedule.
The Bullpups fell to 1-2 on Friday after losing 27-2 to Class 6A Junction City. This loss comes two weeks after a loss to a strong Great Bend team that plays in Class 5A.
While the Bullpups’ record isn’t great, they should be prepared for almost anything in Class 4A.
McPherson managed just 134 yards of offense, but the defense didn’t do badly, as Junction City had 286 yards of offense. The Bullpups didn’t help themselves with five fumbles, even though they got back four of them.
Junction City led 14-0 at halftime, but McPherson hung tough, getting a third-quarter safety and entering the fourth quarter down just 14-2. But the Bluejays added a pair of fourth-quarter scores.
