CHANUTE, Kan. (GoNeosho.com) – After two noteworthy years at Neosho County Community College, Jiyani Thompson is poised to embark upon the next chapter of her academic and athletic journey at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The standout guard earned NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Honorable Mention All-American accolades following a remarkable season with the Panthers. Thompson finished as the third-leading scorer in the KJCCC, averaging 15.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. A First-Team All-KJCCC selection, she played a pivotal role in Neosho’s nationally ranked campaign. “Her smooth three-point shot and ability to attack the basket will certainly be missed,” stated Coach JJ Davis. “Jiyani was a key contributor to our success this past season, and we are eager to see her flourish at the next level. Dillard is gaining a sharpshooter who will make a significant impact on their program.”
As Thompson prepares to embark on this next phase of her career, her future appears exceptionally bright. Her years at Neosho County have provided a strong foundation for continued success as she transitions to the four-year level.
