Jessa Losew scored 19 points and added seven rebounds and three steals, leading the Central Christian girls to the Class 1A Division 2 state tournament with a 55-47 win over Waverly on Saturday in Hartford.
With the boys also going to state, it is the first time since 2017 that Central Christian will send both basketball teams to the state tournament.
The win improved the Cougars to 24-2 and they will be the top seed at the 1A Division 2 state tournament. They’ll open state against No. 8 seed Wallace County at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina.
