The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School boys cross country team edged out Kansas City Christian 61-66 for the Kansas Class 2A boys state team title Saturday at the Wamego Country Club.
Richmond-Central Heights placed third in the team standings with 77 points.
Trinity’s Jacob Lindstrom captured first-place individual medalist honors with a 5K time of 16 minutes, 26.21 seconds. Twin brother John Lindstrom placed fourth with a time of 16:43.59.
Trinity’s Cameron Kiser placed 18th with a time of 17:25.47. The top 20 runners earned all-state honors.
Inman also placed two runners in the top 20. Tyler Martisko placed eighth with a time of 17:07.29 and Riley Roots finished 15th in 17:23.04.
Hutchinson Trinity’s Ambrose Pennycuff placed 31st with a time of 17:57.15, followed by Sam Pennycuff, 45th, 18:28.86; Noah Lau, 48th, 18:22.67; and Sam Madden, 50th, 18:37.07.
Kansas City Christian won the Kansas Class 2A girls state team title with 75 points, followed by Berean Academy with 106 points and Hoxie with 120.
Smith Center’s Madison Howland won the 2A girls individual state title with a 5K time of 19 minutes, 16.77 seconds.
